From politics coverage to arts-focused pieces, I’m interested in crafting stories that explore social justice issues and movements.
Previously, I investigated school issues in South Carolina for The Post and Courier’s Education Lab. I also used to work for The New York Times, where I was a part of the team that reported on COVID-19 and won the 2021 Pulitzer Prize for Public Service. My work spanned investigating the virus’ spread in correctional facilities to exploring the pandemic’s toll on public health departments.
I relish details and love falling down rabbit holes. Prior to The Times, I used to be a fact checker at Ms. Magazine, and a copy editor and reporter at a pair of community newspapers in Los Angeles.
I grew up in California, studied at Santa Clara University and got my master’s in journalism at Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism.
